I love programming. In fact, when my father bought one of the first “micro” computers when I was 11, it changed the entire course of my life. After a few years learning BASIC, Pascal, and Assembly language, I found that I could spend hours in front of a computer screen and was completely happy. I was doing what I loved, creating programs to make the computer do things it couldn’t do before. When it was clear I could program and make a decent income, it was obvious the direction I would take in college: I pursued a degree in Computer Science and have had an extremely successful career. Now I am looking for those kids like me, but I want to give them an opportunity to go farther. I was ahead of most of my peers when I entered college, but I wasn’t a programmer until a few years after I graduated. I believe talented, motivated, and passionate young students can pursue a career in software development, or coding, or programming, and be ready to enter the job market very competitively as early as when they graduate from high school.
